The national carrier has announced that it is serving a variety of Teochew dishes across all cabin classes on selected flights for a four-month period. Passengers in First Class and Suites get to savour cold crabs and hei chor (prawn rolls) as well as iconic delicacies such as steamed promfret and orh nee (yam paste). Those in Business Class are presented with Teochew porridge with braised duck, salted egg and braised cabbage, bak chor mee as well as fried png kueh.
Economy and premium economy class passengers, too, will get braised duck rice with egg, beancurd and preseved veggies or stir-fried pork rice with shacha sauce.
Singapore Airlines senior vice president product and services, Marvin Tan, said Chinese cuisine is richly diverse and he is delighted that the airline can showcase Teochew flavours to international travellers on board, and “offer those familiar with the cuisine a little taste of home while travelling with us,”
This initiative comes after Singapore’s Airlines’ highly successful Singapore Heritage Cuisine launched last year as part of the SG50 celebrations. as well as its Deliciously Wholesome food choices introduced in April this year.
