SINGAPORE — The power of the food truck is undeniable. Especially if its is a “celebrity” food truck like California-based The Lime Truck, which won Season 2 of The Great Food Truck Race in 2011.

More than 500 people flocked down to try The Lime Truck’s dishes when it was in Singapore last week for Fiji Water Lime Truck Pop Up at Orchard Gateway. All proceeds from the event (S$9,821) went to the Willing Hearts Charity.

Said chef Daniel Shemtob, its 25-year-old founder: “I’m glad people in Singapore know about us. It was an easy sell for Fiji Water to get me here since I love Asian food and the event was for a good cause.”

Shemtob has also gone on to open two brick-and-mortar restaurants — TLT in Los Angeles and Irvine — where you can get a taste of him and his food. Or else, you can probably catch him at his following favourite LA restaurants.

BEVERLY SOON TOFU

I’m a huge fan of Asian food; and when it’s done well, it is more delicious than anything in the world. I go to Beverly Soon Tofu in K-Town for Korean hot pot and kimchi soup. It’s so good.

HONEY PIG

This is another place in K-Town I frequent. It’s all about Korean barbecue which I love and the restaurant specialises in pork. I eat lots of pork belly here.

BESTIA

Okay, besides Korean, I love some Italian. Bestia in the Arts District in downtown LA is just consistently amazing. I’ve been here at least 30 times. The food doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but the people know exactly what they’re doing and they do everything right. I get goosebumps just thinking of its cavatelli pasta with black truffle and homemade sausages. SERENE LIM
