Hotels with crazy celeb guests
SINGAPORE — So you’ve watched the TMZ video of Solange Knowles attacking Jay-Z in the elevator of New York’s The Standard over and over again. While The Standard may be unlucky enough to have had the security video of Knowles going nuts leaked, it’s one of many hotels that have played host to batty celeb behaviour.
Here are three more infamous examples. How we wish we could have a look at what went down:
Charlie Sheenin New York’s The Plaza
You know it’s always a gamble when Mr Sheen checks in. In 2010, the drug-addled actor flipped out and thrashed the Eloise Suite of The Plaza hotel after he couldn’t find his wallet and mobile phone. The police found him naked, “intoxicated and acting irrationally”, while his similarly un-clad female companion was hiding inside a closet.
Axl Rose in Stockholm’s Berns Hotel
The Guns N’ Roses frontman lost it in this hotel in 2006 when a party he was promised didn’t materialise. He attacked a security guard, biting him in the thigh, screamed and threw a vase at an 18th-century mirror.
Lindsay Lohan in just about every big Los Angeles hotel
There’s a reason six LA hotels — including Santa Monica’s Shutters On The Beach and the Mondrian — have blacklisted her. Her many incidents include a meltdown at the Mondrian after she was told the hotel was full and fights at LA’s The Standard. Even hotels in New York weren’t spared. She was banned from W Union Square after she left nearly US$50,000 (S$63,000) of cigarette-burn damage there.
