How Blake Lively’s Preserve website brings out the traveller in you

SINGAPORE — So Mrs Ryan Reynolds has done a Gwyneth and launched her own lifestyle website called Preserve to much scorn last week. The former Gossip Girl Blake Lively may be clueless and out of touch, and have a website that critics have said resembles a horror movie site, but not everything’s terrible about a website that tries to promote artists and artisanal products in the United States. While we tried not to snigger at the flowery prose, we found a couple of entries that sparked off a case of wonderlust in us.

Lively’s website covers the food scene and residents of New Orleans, and the photos used in these entries are so beautifully backlit, they deserve their own following on Instagram.

We don’t know who needs a US$55 (S$68) chopping board, but who cares about the price tag when it’s “cut from architectural plywood made from 100 per cent rapidly renewable bamboo” and will remind you to take a holiday to the US whenever you use it? Quick, someone in 
Singapore make one in the shape of our 
island too.

Okay, it costs US$1,000, but many branded handbags are in this price range. Plus, this bag is crafted with “hand-distressed cognac leather” to give that well-worn and seasoned look that hipster travellers try so hard to achieve. Consider it
