UberEATS to deliver Hai Di Lao on Jan 30

Hot Pot lovers, rejoice. UberEATS is delivering Hai Di Lao to your homes – on demand.

SINGAPORE – Hot Pot lovers, rejoice. UberEATS will be delivering Hai Di Lao Hot Pot sets to your homes – on demand.

The hot pot delivery service, which will be available for one day only on Monday (Jan 30), will be free for Standard Chartered card holders as well as new users of UberEATS, but will cost S$88 for everyone else.

Expect to receive ingredients such as vegetables, meat and seafood worth about S$300 and enough for six people, an UberEATS apron, UberEATS red packets and, of course, a free hot pot and cooker that users can keep.

Requests for the hot pot delivery service can be made via the UberEATS app between 10am and 12pm, and the company will deliver the food by 5pm. It will only be available in the areas it serves, such as the Central Business District, Serangoon, Bedok and Katong.

First time UberEATS users can request for their free Hot Pot meal by entering ‘Hai Di Lao Hot Pot’ as the delivery address, as well as ‘HOTPOT’ under Promotions in the app. Standard Chartered card holders can do so by also typing ‘Hai Di Lao Hot Pot’ as the delivery address, entering ‘SCHOTPOT’ in the Promotions section of the app, and selecting their Standard Chartered credit card as their payment option.

UberEATS expects that demand for hot pot sets will be high, and advises that users be patient and persistent in making their requests. There will be a limited number of sets available, but UberEATS declined to share how many there are.

“Chinese New Year is a wonderful celebration that is steeped in tradition. At UberEATS, we want to show how technology can help enhance and even renew long-held traditions,” said Barry Levy, head of expansion at UberEATS APAC, Uber.

“How would a young Singaporean family change the way they have their reunion dinner with the ease and convenience of order food at the touch of a button? We believe smart innovation can make it easier, more convenient and less stressful to enjoy meals. That way, families can spend more time being together this festive season.”

This partnership is part of UberEATS’ Chinese New Year campaign, which will see the company giving out its limited edition red packets containing surprises such as UberEATS credits in selected Ubers.

The company has also prepared what it calls a “Sweet Surprise”, which will be unveiled on the 15th day of Chinese New Year (Feb 11).
