After a successful run in August last year, *Scapenodes Our House Downstairs — Built From Scratch returns with two more sessions in July. The first is taking place today and the next on July 30. Get ready for a DIY fun-filled event where participants can get their hands dirty building their very own light fixture or open terrarium, learn tips and tricks from a florist on how to make your pot plants and flowers last longer, and get lessons on woodwork and electrical skills. Enjoy a relaxing afternoon listening to Sangeet Sayamkaal — Music of the Dusk at the Esplanade. As part of the chakra series, the event will feature performers such as Dr Dhanajay Daithankar on the santoor (Indian dulcimer) and Nawaz Mirajkar on the tabla performing five ragas (Indian classical pieces) such as Raga Madhuvanti, Raga Bhimpalasi and more. These sombre, meditative and devotional time-specific ragas are meant to mark the end of the day and the time for quiet reflection.

The biennial event, Singapore Garden Festival, is set to return from July 23 to 31.Organised by the National Parks Board (NParks) and Gardens by the Bay, this is a fiesta of floral displays and exquisite tropical garden landscapes created by more than 30 internationally acclaimed garden and floral designers. Highlights of the event include an orchid extravaganza at Flower Dome, a table-top floral display, a terrarium exhibition and balcony displays. There will be a marketplace, too, featuring more than 100 booths that offer wares, food, and landscaping and craft products.
