The Arts House’s 13th birthday takes on the style of a House Party on Saturday and Sunday. Go hear music on Empress Lawn, and have snacks at The Arts House’s porch, where pop-up stalls will be serving food and drink. And check out Note For Note, which will feature 10 poets in a musical dialogue with 10 musicians playing African beats, the Beatles songs, and more. Engage with filmmakers such as director Eileen Chong, who will speak on the film The Art of Singapore, which uncovers the story of one of Singapore’s last movie poster painters.Visual artist Liana Yang will present Love, Virtually, which will give you insight into the subliminal messages in text and images in online dating.

MINT Museum of Toys will be exhibiting Door of Hope: Women in History today. The exhibition will explore the history of the Door of Hope dolls and highlights the inspirational story of the young women and girls who created them. Twenty-five unique Door of Hope dolls will be displayed.

Enjoy jazz music while taking in the panoramic view of Marina Bay at new jazz lounge, Jazz At Monti. International guest saxophonist Jakob Dinesen from Denmark and drummer Chanutr Techatananan from Thailand will be gracing the stage. Local jazz musician Jeremy Monteiro will be performing as well. Tickets are S$30 online, or S$35 at the door.
AMK HUB COMMEMORATES EARTH HOUR

AMK Hub commemorates Earth Hour with an array of eco-friendly programmes. From March 24 to March 26, shoppers who recycle pre-loved gear (think clothing and bags) weighing 2kg and up will be eligible for vouchers. Rewards include S$5 AMK Hub vouchers and vouchers for fashion outlets. Starting from March 31, visitors can bring used electronics, books and toys as well as food items to the mall to exchange for rewards. Limited to the first 600 donors per day. Inflatable bouncy castles will be available for kids to play on for S$8 (the amount entitles kids to play time of 15 minutes on weekdays, and 10 minutes on weekends). AMK Hub will be switching off facade and garden lights at 8.30pm to commemorate Earth Hour.

Random Blends 2017: Interceptions showcases artworks based on social issues using tools such as video, virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technology. Orchestra The Purple Symphony makes its return to the University Cultural Centre Hall on April 2. Artistic Director Quek Ling Kiong leads a group of musicians made up of people with and without special needs from schools and organisations such as Singapore Management University and Pathlight School. The 90-member orchestra will take the audience through an exciting repertoire of dance music from various cultures. A pre-concert, hands-on workshop will be organised. There, learn how to make your own instrument with recycled materials.
