Resorts World Sentosa is presenting Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Singapore for the sixth year. This time round, the theme park will see the first-ever theatrical procession inspired by the Day of the Dead procession. There will be scares aplenty with five haunted houses (including two Singapore-themed haunted ones — the Old Changi Hospital and Hawker Centre Massacre), two scare zones and two spectacular “live” shows to entertain the crowd.

Enjoy an invigorating and fun day in the great outdoors at Mount Faber today. Returning for the last instalment of Let’s Lepak at Mount Faber, the event will offer various activities including a Southern Ridges Heritage and Nature Trail co-organised by Mount Faber Leisure Group and NParks. There is also a chance to try orienteering, a sport where runners have to navigate their way across terrains with the help of a map and compass. Registration is required for the trail, while you need to download the ActiveSG app for the orienteering activity.

The British Council has partnered Shakespeare’s Globe, the British Centre for Literary Translation, Writers’ Centre Norwich and The Select Centre (Singapore) to organise literary and performance translation workshops, which are running today and tomorrow. The workshops — delivered in both English-Chinese and English-Malay, will encourage participants to explore the cultural and linguistic challenges and complexities of translating Shakespeare’s plays and poetry. Participants will be guided by local facilitators to translate dialogues, jokes, puns and the sonnets into local vernacular.

Singa Drum Gaia returns for a special concert edition this weekend. The event celebrates the vibrancy and eclectic drumming traditions from around the world. Expect to see performances by drum ensembles Hibikiya and Nadi Singapura, with two sought-after Singapore percussionists Serena Chen and Govin Tan stirring up the crowd.

This October, Oxwell & Co. presents its own rendition of Oktoberfest called Oxtoberfest, featuring all things craft beer. A launch party will be held by the restaurant today to kick off the month of festivities, with craft beer bottles at S$8 instead of S$10, and DJs spinning old-school tunes for the crowd. And for the entire month, diners can choose from a selection of more than 15 different brews from craft brands such as Fourpure and Yenda. Fans of ciders can enjoy them for S$10 nett.

Open Farm Community returns with the sixth edition of its social market with specially curated vendors and workshops. There will be more than 35 vendors selling fresh, local and artisanal produce, such as Soi Coco hawking young and raw coconut shakes, and The Wicked Cream Co selling Hello Uji Matcha Wicked Mallows — matcha-flavoured marshmallows. Workshops on how to make a terrarium by Isle of Ease will be conducted as well.

Japanese artist Shinro Ohtake is having his solo exhibition, Paper — Sight, presented by Creative Workshop and Gallery STPI to mark Ohtake’s extraordinary endeavour in print and papermaking. It showcases some 30 of 140 unique works executed by Ohtake. Highlights include a series of large-scale fluorescent paper pulp paintings, as well as a 320-page sculptural scrapbook that consists of 160 individual artworks.

Centrepoint unveils two food precincts - International food and beverage enclave Gastro+, and a brand new Food Hall at Basement 1 and 2. Gastro+ will house international brand names and first-in Singapore food concepts, such as Honolulu Cafe egg-tarts and Hongkong Milk Tea, as well as Kyoaji Japanese Dining’s fresh sashimi and seafood from Japan. There will also be activities happening at the mall, such as the Balloon Festival at the atrium featuring balloon animals and a barnyard sculpted by Guinness World Record-setting artist Lily Tan on display. The event runs till Oct 9.

Organised by Samarpan Meditation, Journey to Inner Peace is a free meditation event that is returning following last year’s success, which saw about 900 participants turning up for it. Held at Suntec City, the line-up this year includes an exhibition on the science of meditation, and a discourse by founder of Samarpan Meditation, His Holiness Shivkrupanand Swami, where attendees get to learn a simple meditation technique.

Singapore’s nationwide dance movement, Got to Move returns for its second edition to celebrate the diversity of Singapore’s dance scene. More than 200 exciting dance programmes and activities will be held island-wide to reach wider audiences. There will be a dance photography exhibition, a Bouncefit party on trampolines and an MP3-led activity where participants can engage in dance-related challenges.
