100 new artefacts from community donors and lenders, as well as exhibits from the National Collection. Besides artefacts, specially commissioned works by both Singapore and international contemporary artists, namely Singaporean film-maker

URBAN KAMPUNG FESTIVAL

To promote racial harmony, the very first Urban Kampung festival aiming to foster understanding towards Islam and the Malay-Muslim culture will take place today. A slew of exciting activities have been organised for everyone, such as the ultimate satay challenge whereby famed satay stall owners compete in a cook-off for the title of the Ultimate Satay Master. Attendees will get to savour the satay for S$25, and vote for their favourite contestant. Other activities include traditional kampung games and a photo booth where visitors can capture a picture of themselves dressed up in either a baju kurung or sarong.

CARTOONS UNDERGROUND 2016

Get your popcorn and beer ready this evening as you sit back and enjoy animation films at Singapore’s first independent animation festival Cartoons Underground 2016. Celebrating five years of underground animation, Cartoon Underground in partnership with Slideshow, presents award-winning animated films by directors who have shown at the Annecy, Hiroshima, Fantoche and Edinburgh international film festivals. The highlight of the festival is an animation by award-winning independent local animator Tan Wei Keong with his film titled Time Loop and Time Warp.

As part of MINT Museum of Toys’ monthly late-night event – Guerrilla, the museum will be opening up Level Five exclusively to feature a rare mask of a villain from the 1950’s British sci-fi comic series, Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future.
