Since it is the F1 weekend, feel like a real F1 racer at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands. Visitors can challenge the race lap time set by the 2016 Formula One current leader Lewis Hamiliton through an F1 racing simulator located outside the IWC Schaffhausen boutique. The participant who clocks the winning race lap time will get exclusive F1 merchandise signed by Lewis Hamiliton. There’s more F1 action at the Atrium of ION Orchard where you can experience what goes behind the scenes of the Mercedes racing team, as well as get up-close with the life-sized replica of Mercedecs-AMG GT S, which is also the Official Safety Car of the 2016 FIA Formula One World Championship.

In conjunction with the Grand Prix, visitors who visit Madame Tussauds Singapore can get a chance to strike a victory pose alongside figures of racers such as Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Fans of Australian superstar Kylie Minogue, who is performing at this year’s F1, can look forward to getting a photo taken with the singer as her wax figure has been flown in specially for the F1 season and will be here for three months.

Onto its fourth edition, Thus Have I Seen (This) Buddhist Film Festival returns with a week-long showcase of the festival’s most comprehensive line-up of films thus far. The festival opens with the film Samsara (USA), a non-verbal documentary filmed over five years in 25 countries. Other highlights include feature film, Crosscurrent (China), which follows the journey of a small cargo boat sailing up the Yangtze River in winter. The directors of Paths of the Soul (China) and The Dalai Lama The 14th (Japan) will also be in town to take part in post-screening dialogues.

The second installation for Cooking With Love sees its final round today from 1pm to 4pm, with finalists creating a dish to while celebrity chef Eric Teo rounds up the competition by conducting a live cooking demonstration. Attendees will get to sample his dishes. Other activities that shoppers can look forward to include a craft workshop to create cute bookmarks and ice gem biscuit fridge magnets from 3.30pm to 5pm tomorrow.

The British Council has partnered Shakespeare’s Globe, the British Centre for Literary Translation, Writers’ Centre Norwich and The Select Centre (Singapore) to develop literary and performance translation workshops in Singapore which is running from Sept 29 to Oct 2. The workshop — delivered in both English-Chinese and English-Malay, will encourage participants to explore the cultural and linguistic challenges and complexities of translating Shakespeare’s plays and poetry. Participants will be guided by local facilitators to translate dialogues, jokes, puns and the sonnets into local vernacular.
