EARTHQUAKES AND TSUNAMIS — LIVING WITH RISK

Embark on a hands-on learning journey to better understand these seismic phenomena as well as the risks associated with earthquakes and life-saving countermeasures. There will be eight interactive experiments and quizzes to test your reactions in the face of an actual disaster. Also included is an activity stand designed by the International Emergency Fire Brigade and fitted with a seismometer that simulates ground movement during an earthquake.

SENTOSA PLAYCATION 2014: GIANT INFLATABLES

Head to Sentosa for some family fun with the Giant Inflatables. Over at Christmas Cheers at Merlion Plaza, take a picture with a chill-out Santa Claus or a 6m-tall Christmas tree. If you love sweet treats, Candyland at Beach Plaza will delight with yummy donuts, gumball machines and rainbow lollies. Don’t forget to stop by Toyland at Palawan Beach for a selfie with a huge super bear. Also, check out PLAYtent for games and activities, such as ball pool, slide and bouncing castle, rock climbing and a rodeo bull challenge.

SINGAPORE POLICE FORCE BAND GOES RETRO

Have a family picnic at the Singapore Botanic Gardens while you enjoy retro tunes by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) Band. Formed in 1925, the band is one of the oldest in Singapore and is known for incorporating local cultural elements into an exciting marching display. Listen out for the band’s renditions of familiar retro tunes, including soul and funk music.

THE DIANA MINI WORKSHOP

Take part in this two-day lomography workshop for children. Conducted by Erny Melissa from Lomography Embassy Singapore, kids will discover new and creative approaches to pinhole photography. Participants will be given a roll of film and loaned a camera during the workshop. The film will be developed and scanned into a CD, which you can collect at the end of the workshop. The workshop is suitable for children aged 12 years old and below, and must be accompanied by a parent.

ASIA-PACIFIC JUNIOR ORIGINAL CONCERT 2014

Check out this concert hosted by Yamaha Music (Asia). Be inspired as the young talents (15 years and below) of Yamaha Music Schools from the Asia-Pacific region entertain you with original pieces that speak of their cultural backgrounds. One of the highlights is the motif improvisation, where the performer draws inspiration from a short musical idea to create a larger composition. Watch as two of the young performers compose two pieces from two randomly chosen melodic motifs provided by audience members on the spot.

PETER PAN, THE NEVER ENDING STORY

Catch this classic tale of the mischievous boy who refuses to grow up. Audiences will be treated to a theatrical spectacular brimming with high-flying action, thrilling swordplay, magical fairy dust and well-known pop songs from the likes of Robbie Williams, Josh Groban and Westlife.
