SINGAPORE — Sporting a new venue — at Capitol Piazza — this year, the 11th edition of Noise Singapore 2016 Festival is back to #mixsomenoise and is filled with more activities than ever.

The festival, which begins today, celebrates local creativity with a series of concerts and exhibitions. Be it a walk through multiple art pieces or firing up your ear drums, there is something for everyone. Here are some things you can look forward to.

SUPPORT CO(LAB)

At Capitol Piazza, you can check out Noise Singapore’s collaborations with partners such as Converse, EZ-Link, Naiise and Snupped. Here, discover what it means to be an artist through hands-on activities and workshops. The collaboration with Converse, for example, challenges you to come up with exclusive designs for its sneakers.

AMP UP YOUR EVENING

Bop to the beat at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre and Concourse, where you get to hear a myriad of old and new tunes by Noise musicians. Featuring the likes of independent rock band Stopgap, indie band Take Two, post-acoustic trio HubbaBubbas and enec.e, which plays shoegaze, folk and ambient music, the concert will be held over three days from Aug 26 to 28, from 6pm to 10pm. In conjunction with Weekend Noise, some of the Noise Singapore artistes will also be performing at Singapore Night Festival’s festival village at SMU on Aug 19 and 20, and Aug 26 and 27. For both Noise and Night Festival, the talented local artistes will share the stage with three emerging Australian acts, Alice Ivy, Tali Mahoney and Frida.

FOR THE ARTIST IN YOU

Support local artists by visiting the Noise Artist Market at Esplanade Concourse from Aug 27 to 28 between 5pm to 10pm. Budding artists and crafters can draw inspiration from an array of handcrafted art, crafts, and accessories by 12 local artists, such as cute miniature air-dry clay dishes by Tiny Supply and colourful art prints by Nadia So.

A TREAT FOR THE EYES

Following the theme of Uncharted, the first flagship exhibition at Capitol Piazza by Noise Singapore contains a selection of original works and commissioned installations, from artworks to designs, photography and music. Selected by the Noise Expert Panel, which is made up of professionals from the creative industries, look forward to thought-provoking art pieces such as My Twin by Sziyi, which portrays the artist’s imagination of her and a twin image of herself. Other works include a spectacular black and white image of Te Anau, New Zealand, by photographer infektivium. Head down to The Esplanade concourse from Aug 16 to 31 to marvel at newly commissioned works, by Noise Singapore’s alumni artists, that explore unknown territories through artworks created with imagination and creativity.
