Malaysia PM Najib Razak pays respects to Mr Lee Kuan Yew

SINGAPORE — Malaysian PM Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor arrived at Parliament House today (March 26), where he was received by PM Lee Hsien Loong, his wife Ho Ching and Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

PM Najib is in Singapore to personally convey Malaysia’s condolences on the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, saying "all Singaporeans owe him a huge debt of gratitude".

Here is what he said in full:

"The Malaysian Government and the Malaysian people would like to express their heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew. Mr Lee Kuan Yew is a great man whose leadership, vision, fortitude, perseverance helped shaped modern Singapore into what it is today, advanced economy and finding its own place in the world." 

"All Singaporeans owe him a huge debt of gratitude. (Mr Lee) Kuan Yew is also a man who helped shaped South-east Asia as a region of peace and prosperity. He will go down as one of the great men in history, whose vision and leadership helped make this world a better place. I would like to thank him for strengthening the bilateral ties between Malaysia and Singapore."
