SINGAPORE — Programmes about the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew will be made available on DVDs, MediaCorp said today (April 1), following overwhelming requests to make available the programmes on DVD for purchase.

These programmes, broadcast during the period of national mourning following Mr Lee’s death on March 23, are also available for catch-up viewing online via Toggle on www.toggle.sg/catchup and on channelnewsasia.com/news/specials.

The three-part documentary, Time Nor Tide, each about an hour long, was part of a series of special programmes to commemorate Mr Lee’s life and legacy. The series traces Mr Lee’s life and work from the time he entered politics, including exclusive archive footage and interviews with local and international personalities.

It will be available in a three-disc box set in English and Mandarin at all Poh Kim Video outlets and POPULAR/CD-RAMA stores from Monday (April 6), retailing at $24.90 per set. For bulk orders please email merchandise [at] mediacorp.com.sg.

A subsequent set of these programmes in Malay and Tamil will be made available two weeks later. These versions will also go on sale.

In honour of the memory of Mr Lee’s lifetime contributions to the nation, MediaCorp is donating the net proceeds of the first public sale of DVDs to the Community Chest.

MediaCorp is also planning to produce other programmes on Mr Lee Kuan Yew on DVD because of the requests.

These include In His Own Words — a six-part series of excerpts from key speeches made by Mr Lee over the years, covering various themes close to his heart, with a duration of between 30 and 60 minutes — and Forging A Nation, a compilation of short stories capturing significant moments and issues in Singapore’s history. The total duration of the DVD is 86 minutes.

Further information about these titles will be given on www.channelnewsasia.com soon.
