SINGAPORE — The state flag that was draped over the casket of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew has been added to The National Museum of Singapore’s In Memoriam: Lee Kuan Yew exhibition,  announced Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Lawrence Wong in a Facebook post today (April 28).

The National Museum is also set to extend the exhibition’s duration to June 28, Mr Wong said. It was expected to run from March 25 to May 24, according to the Museum’s website.

Mr Wong said that so far over 80,000 have visited the exhibition, and “there’s still a steady stream coming daily”.

“I was there over the weekend and saw many visitors. So I’ve discussed with our museum people and they will further extend the exhibition until 28 June,” he added.

He hopes the extension will allow more Singaporeans and their children to visit the exhibition during the school holidays.

The exhibition also includes personal items, such as Mr lee’s barrister wig when he was admitted to the Bar, and the red box he used to carry papers, speech drafts, letters, readings, notes and cassette tapes with his recorded instructions.

Admission to the exhibition is free. – ANJALI RAGURAMAN
