SEA Games: Synchro swimmers Debbie and Miya win silver and bronze in solo technical routine

KUALA LUMPUR - Synchronised swimmer Debbie Soh has won a second medal - a silver - in the solo technical routine at the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.

KUALA LUMPUR - Synchronised swimmer Debbie Soh has won a second medal - a silver - in the solo technical routine at the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.

She scored a total of 73.8253 on Thursday night (Aug 18) to finish second, just narrowly missing out on gold to Malaysia's Gan Hua Wei (73.8386).

Teammate Miya Yong picked up her second bronze of the Games after scoring 72.3769.

Earlier on Thursday, Soh won Singapore's first gold medal of the SEA Games when she finished first in the solo free routine.

The 19-year-old was awarded 22.3000 for execution, 30.0000 for artistic impression and 22.7000 for difficulty for a total score of 75, and outscored home favourite Lee Yhing Huey of Malaysia in all three areas to earn the gold.

Lee – who won a gold medal in the duet in 2015 – had to settle for silver with her score of 74.7000, while Miya claimed the bronze in 73.0333.

From competitors, both Soh and Miya will become partners on Friday when they compete in the duet technical routine.
