17 Kanebo skincare products recalled

SINGAPORE — Seventeen products from Japanese skincare company Kanebo Cosmetics have been voluntarily recalled by the distributor because they contain rhododenol (4HPB), which may cause white patches on the skin.

SINGAPORE — Seventeen products from Japanese skincare company Kanebo Cosmetics have been voluntarily recalled by the distributor because they contain rhododenol (4HPB), which may cause white patches on the skin.

According to a statement from Kao Singapore, the sole distributor of Kanebo Cosmetics here, the recall is a precautionary move.

Of the 54 products recalled in Japan, only 17 are sold here.

“Although no cases of such have been reported in Singapore, consumers are advised to stop use immediately,” Kao said. “All sales counters have ceased sales of affected products with immediate effect.”

The affected Kanebo brands are Kanebo Blanchir Superior, Kanebo Impress and RMK.

The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) said it is overseeing the recall. “To date, HSA has not received any adverse event reports relating to the use of the products,” it said.

Customers with queries can contact Kao at 6295-1297 from Mondays to Fridays (8.30am-5.30pm) or email enquiry [at] kao.com.
