Two men charged for armed robbery

SINGAPORE — Two men were charged in court today (Feb 12) with committing armed robbery at a Serangoon Road convenience kiosk, robbing it of cash and cartons of cigarettes.

SINGAPORE — Two men were charged in court today (Feb 12) with committing armed robbery at a Serangoon Road convenience kiosk, robbing it of cash and cartons of cigarettes.

The alleged robbery took place at about 3am yesterday. Clad in balaclavas, Leon Chia Tee Siong and Tan De Xun Aaron, both 22, brought a flick knife to the convenience kiosk and robbed the store of S$1,100 in cash and 20 cartons of cigarettes worth S$2,000. They also took the mobile phone of the kiosk attendant.

They were arrested at 520 Woodlands Drive 14 at about 2:30pm. Cash, cigarettes, gloves, a balaclava and various weapons were seized as case exhibits.

They will be remanded for further investigations and return to court next Friday.

If convicted, the pair could be jailed between three years to 14 years, and given at least 12 strokes of the cane.
