SINGAPORE — The results of the 2013 Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE ‘O’ Level) Examination will be released on Jan 13, the Ministry of Education announced today (Jan 8).

School candidates may collect their results from their schools at 2.00pm on Jan 13, a Monday. Private candidates will be informed of their results by post, and they can also access their results through the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board website at http://www.seab.gov.sg from 2.00pm on Jan 13.

JOINT ADMISSIONS EXERCISE

The Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE) for Junior Colleges (JCs), Millennia Institute (MI), Polytechnics or the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) begins at 3pm on that same day, for students with valid O-Level results wishing to applying to these institutes.

The JAE is open to Singapore citizens and Singapore permanent residents, international students studying in government or government-aided schools, or in independent schools in Singapore.

The JAE registration opens at 3pm on Jan 13 and ends at 4pm on Jan 17, a Friday.

Applicants are to submit their application online through the JAE Internet System (JAE-IS) at http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/jae.

Details on the JAE are available at the above link, or candidates can call the MOE Customer Service Centre at 6872-2220 during office hours.

JOINT POLYTECHNIC SPECIAL ADMISSIONS EXERCISE

Students who wish to apply to only the Polytechnics can also participate in the Joint Polytechnic Special Admissions Exercise (JPSAE).

The JPSAE complements the existing JAE by allowing polytechnics to consider applicants based on a broader measure of merit beyond academic performance in the O-Level Examination.

Through the JPSAE, polytechnics may admit students who have demonstrated a strong passion or aptitude through work attachments, sustained involvement in course-related projects or students with outstanding talents or achievements in leadership, community service, entrepreneurship, sports, and artistic and creative areas.

Details on the JPSAE can be found at http://www.polytechnic.edu.sg/jpsae and on the respective polytechnics’ websites.
