SINGAPORE – Officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) have arrested a Singaporean man suspected of ordering cannabis from an online website, the bureau said on Saturday (March 4).
The CNB said it was alerted to the presence of a suspicious parcel on Friday. It was suspected to contain about 136g of cannabis.
Further investigations found that the 26-year-old suspect was the intended recipient of the parcel and that he had used an assumed name in an attempt to evade detection, the CNB said, adding that he was a student.
CNB officers then followed up on the case and arrested the male suspect. A search of his residence found more drugs and drug paraphernalia.
This included cannabis in vegetable, paste and powder forms; as well as 11 pieces of LSD stamps.
The CNB said that investigations into this case are ongoing, and that it would continue to address the trend of drug abuse by youths and online drug peddling “through a comprehensive approach of enforcement, education and engagement”.
