SINGAPORE — The Singapore Police have arrested four teens allegedly involved in a case of shared-bicycle abuse for committing a rash act and being a public nuisance, around the vicinity of Punggol MRT station and the bus interchange.

According to a statement by the police on Tuesday (June 20), the teens, aged 16 to 18, are believed to be connected to an incident that was caught on video that showed a bare-chested man throwing an oBike bicycle into a canal.

The police said that man, who was subsequently seen riding another bicycle from ofo within the MRT station, is one of the four arrested.

The police said they were made aware of the incident on Friday (June 16), and subsequently arrested the men along Ang Mo Kio Ave 9 on Monday.

If they are found guilty of committing a rash act, the men are liable to be punished with up to six months imprisonment and/or a fine of S$2,500. If they are convicted for Public Nuisance, they can be fined up to S$1,000.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.

This incident comes in the wake of another case of shared-bicycle abuse that also happened last week.

On Friday, a 14 year old boy was arrested for allegedly throwing an ofo bicycle down from a flat at 116B Jalan Tenteram.

Video footage of that act was also widely circulated on social media on Thursday. The 11-second clip showed the bicycle being lifted over the railing of a corridor partition before being dropped to the ground floor.
