SINGAPORE — A total of 42 people were caught for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling and gang-related activities during a five-hour raid in Geylang on Monday (March 20).
SINGAPORE — A total of 42 people were caught for their suspected involvement in illegal gambling and gang-related activities during a five-hour raid in Geylang on Monday (March 20).
In a news release on Tuesday, the police said up to S$21,000 in cash were seized as case exhibits in the operation, together with some mobile phones and gambling paraphernalia.
The suspects, which include 41 men and one woman, are aged between 16 and 57. Investigations are ongoing.
If found guilty, those who are caught gaming can be jailed for up to six months, and/or fined up to S$5,000. Those who facilitate, instigate, or promote the public gambling activities can be jailed up to five years and fined a sum between S$20,000 and S$200,000.
Those convicted of their involvement in gang-related activities can be jailed up to three years and/or fined up to S$5,000.
