SINGAPORE — More than 4kg of methamphetamines, better known as “ice” on the streets, was seized from a 47-year-old Vietnamese woman at Changi Airport yesterday (Aug 10). The drugs are estimated to have a street value of S$630,000. The suspect was stopped for checks by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) at Terminal 2 at about 8.45am yesterday morning, and officers from the ICA and Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) found two slabs of the drug, wrapped in aluminium foil, in the suspect’s luggage. The ICA and CNB said in a joint statement today that their preliminary investigations suggest that the roughly 4.1kg of ice found on the suspect were likely meant to be re-exported and was not intended to be sold in Singapore. The CNB is investigating the suspect for drug importation. If convicted, she may face the death penatly.
