SINGAPORE — The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) and the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) have thwarted a smuggling attempt of 7.1kg of Ice at the Changi Airport.
It is the largest single Ice seizure this year.
At about 8.30pm on Oct 25, a CNB officer checked on a female South African at the arrival hall of Changi Airport Terminal 3.
When the woman’s luggage went through an X-ray, ICA officers noticed anomalies.
Upon checking, CNB officers found two wrapped bundles in a small bag in the woman’s luggage, believed to be Ice. The drugs had a street value of about S$1.4m.
The 43-year-old woman was immediately arrested. Investigations are ongoing. If convicted, she may face the death penalty. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
