SINGAPORE — The People’s Association yesterday launched the Nationwide Emergency Response (ER) Kit, which will be available at 87 constituencies, to better equip grassroots leaders and volunteers to handle any cases of fire, haze or epidemic crisis.

The kit comprises items such as N95 masks, traffic batons, traffic gloves, non-contact thermometers, Community Emergency Response Team reflective vests, a first-aid kit, fire blanket and fire extinguisher. Constituencies are encouraged to customise the kit in accordance with their needs, by including other items they may need.

The ER kit was launched at the SG50 Carnival@Fernvale by Dr Lam Pin Min, Minister of State (Health) and adviser to Sengkang West Grassroots Organisations. The kit will given out by the various Community Emergency and Engagement committees and grassroots leaders, in accordance with the needs of the respective constituencies. In Sengkang West, the kit will be placed at the community club counter.

Said Dr Lam: “I am heartened that measures are being taken to improve and elevate our safety as a nation, by equipping community centres and clubs with the relevant emergency tools for grassroots leaders to better respond to any crisis in the community.”
