SINGAPORE — The flying of drones and kites, as well as the hoisting of captive balloons, will not be allowed at the Padang and its surrounding areas on selected days and times from next month until Aug 9.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) said today (May 28) that it will set up a temporary Restricted Area under the Air Navigation Order to ensure the safety of aircraft flying at low levels in the Jubilee Weekend and National Day Parade 2015 aerial displays.

The temporary restricted area covers the Padang and its surrounding areas, from ground level to 4,000ft above mean sea level.

“Such unauthorised aerial activity within the vicinity of aircraft flying at low levels in the aerial displays may interfere with their operations, posing a danger to the aircraft as well as people and property on the ground,” said the CAAS.

Unauthorised conduct of aerial activities is an offence under the Air Navigation Order. If convicted, a person in the first instance can be fined up to S$20,000 and in subsequent instances up to S$40,000 and/or imprisoned for up to 15 months.

Here are the dates and times the temporary Restricted Area will be in effect. If there is poor weather conditions on any of the planned dates, the temporary Restricted Area will also be in effect on the respective reserve dates and timings.
