AHTC responds to MND’s Town Council Management Report

SINGAPORE — The Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) has responded to the Ministry of National Development’s (MND) red flags against its management of service & conservancy charge (S&CC) arrears and corporate governance.

SINGAPORE — The Aljunied-Hougang Town Council (AHTC) has responded to the Ministry of National Development’s (MND) red flags against its management of service & conservancy charge (S&CC) arrears and corporate governance.

In a statement to the media, AHTC Chairman Pritam Singh said the red bandings are issues the Town Council has been working to address.

Mr Singh added that the implementation of a new Town Council management software system has recently been approved and is expected to be operational within 18 to 24 months from the award of tender. The new system, he said, will address the limitations of the existing IT system which has contributed to some management and reporting challenges associated with their S&CC arrears management and corporate governance.

External consultants were also appointed in March this year to advise AHTC on compliance matters, Mr Singh said. AHTC will also be appointing an accountant as mandated by the Court, and work with the MND and the Housing and Development Board to facilitate the transfer of outstanding government grants and make the mandatory sinking fund transfers.

Mr Singh highlighted AHTC’s green branding for cleanliness and lift performance, and pledged to work with residents and service providers to achieve good outcomes for Aljunied-Hougang town.
