SINGAPORE — A respite from the haze is set to continue tomorrow with air quality expected to be in the moderate range.

The 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) for the next 24 hours expected to be in the high end of the moderate range, said the National Environment Agency in a 6pm situation update today (Oct 8).

Air quality has been in the moderate range and gradually improving since 10pm yesterday when the 24-hour PSI reading was 80-99. As of 7pm today, the 24-hour PSI was 70-79, while the three-hour PSI was 70.

The NEA said that a total of 19 hotspots were detected in Sumatra today. Moderate to dense haze in central and southern Sumatra were observed to spread north-westward, away from Singapore.

Given the air quality forecast for the next 24 hours, everyone can continue with normal activities, said the NEA. However, people who are not feeling well, especially the elderly and children, and those with chronic heart or lung conditions, are still advised to seek medical attention.
