Amazon officially launches in Singapore

SINGAPORE — Online retail giant Amazon has officially launched its services in Singapore.

The Seattle-based company on Thursday (July 27) inaugurated its largest global Amazon Prime Now facility at Mapletree Logistics Hub, at Toh Guan Road, and announced details of its delivery services in the Republic.

Consumers using the new Amazon Prime Now service will be offered free two-hour delivery of products, from eggs to toys to consumer durables, for orders over S$40 placed over the phone and through the app. For orders under S$40, the two hour delivery will cost S$5.99 or S$9.99 for one-hour delivery.

The Amazon Prime Now app was released on the Singapore iTunes and Google Play stores on Wednesday (July 26).

Amazon said its Prime Now service is exclusive to members of Amazon Prime but will be available without the membership to Singaporeans for a limited period of time.

Delivery times for Amazon Prime Now in Singapore will be from 10am to 10pm, seven days a week. Two-hour delivery is available across all delivery areas, whereas one-hour delivery is only available in selected postal codes.

The Amazon Prime Now app says it delivers to addresses in mainland Singapore and Sentosa but does not currently service outlying islands.
