Aung San Suu Kyi to visit Singapore this week

SINGAPORE — Myanmar’s democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi will make her first visit to Singapore this week.

SINGAPORE — Myanmar’s democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi will make her first visit to Singapore this week.

She will arrive tomorrow 20 for a five-day visit, and will meet with President Tony Tan Keng Yam, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Ms Suu Kyi will also meet with Speaker of Parliament Mdm Halimah Yacob, as well as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for Environment and Water Resources, and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu during her visit.

In addition, she will also be hosted to lunch by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh at the Istana.

Ms Suu Kyi will receive a briefing from the Singapore Economic Development Board, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau and the Ministry of Education. She will also visit the Institute of Technical Education College East.

She is scheduled to deliver two speeches while she is in Singapore.

On Saturday, she will deliver the Conference Keynote Address at the Singapore Summit 2013 at the Shangri-La Hotel.

She will also speak at the Singapore Management University’s Ho Rih Hwa Leadership in Asia Public Lecture Series on Sunday. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
