Authorities searching waters for missing S’porean ferry passenger

SINGAPORE — A female Singaporean passenger travelling on a ferry from Malaysia has been reported missing, after the ferry berthed at the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

SINGAPORE — A female Singaporean passenger travelling on a ferry from Malaysia has been reported missing, after the ferry berthed at the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

The Singapore-flagged ferry “SINDO EMPRESS” had departed Tanjong Pengelih at 7.30am this morning (.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) said in a statement that it received a report about the missing passenger at about 11 am.

MPA said it alerted the Malaysia Marine Enforcement Agency (MMEA) of the missing person.

MPA and MMEA are currently conducting the search and rescue operation within their respective waters along the route taken by the ferry.

The Singapore Police Coast Guard (PCG) is also assisting in the operation.

Three MPA and two PCG craft have been activated while vessels in the vicinity have also been asked to keep a lookout.
