SINGAPORE — Anti-narcotics officers have arrested six suspected drug offenders and seized illegal drugs worth over S$210,000 from the suspects’ cars in the Orchard Road area.

A total of 2.3kg of heroin, 260g of ‘Ice’, 470 Erimin-5 tablets and more than 100 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets were seized from the drug syndicate, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said in a statement on Thursday (Oct 27).

According to CNB, its officers staked out a multi-storey carpark in the vicinity of Scotts Road on Wednesday evening to observe a suspected drug trafficker, a 41-year-old Singaporean man.

At about 7.10pm, the suspect and a 39-year-old Malaysia man were observed to be in the vicinity. The Singaporean was seen going to his car and the Malaysian later rode off on a Malaysia-registered motorcycle.

A while later, CNB officers spotted another suspected drug trafficker arriving with two companions. The trio — two Singaporean men aged 42 and 30, and a 22-year-old Singaporean woman — later left the scene towards the vicinity of Devonshire Road.

The 41-year-old Singaporean was later arrested in the vicinity of Bideford Road together with a 23-year-old Singaporean female companion. Four bundles of heroin weighing about 1.8kg were recovered from the boot of his car. The Malaysian was later arrested at the Tuas Checkpoint, with about S$3,500 in cash on him.

The second alleged drug trafficker and the other two suspects in the car were arrested in the vicinity of Devonshire Road. A total of about 470g of heroin, 260g of ‘Ice’, 470 Erimin-5 tablets and more than 100 ‘Ecstasy’ tablets were recovered from within the car. Cash amounting to S$6,500 was recovered from him

Investigations are ongoing and the six suspects could face the death penalty.
