SINGAPORE — The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) will be taking enforcement action against one of their contractors after a stray dog was killed during a dog control operation in Ang Mo Kio.

Pictures and a video of the dead dog were circulated on social media yesterday (Sept 4).

In their statement, the AVA said that the trap used by the contractor had been modified and was not approved for use in stray dog control operations.

The contractor had also failed to monitor the trap as required, to ensure that trapped animals were removed quickly, they added.

AVA said the operation had been conducted in response to complaints about stray dogs in the area.
