SINGAPORE — Activist and blogger Han Hui Hui announced that she will be contesting Radin Mas Single-Member Constituency (SMC) as an independent candidate in a Facebook post today (Aug 26).

“I will step forward and voice out the concerns of Singaporeans, for the elections is the time when our voice should be heard,” she said.

Ms Han chose Radin Mas because it is the closest SMC to her home in Queenstown, adding that she and her team have been walking the ground there since 2013.

In her post, the 23-year-old wrote: “After 6 years of advocacy since 2010 on bettering our daily lives from education to transportation to housing to retirement to a brighter future, I can finally take part in an election.”

Ms Han also called for donations to help “to help us with the cost of organising two rallies at Radin Mas SMC”. “All transactions will be published for transparency and accountability,” she added.

Ms Han was spotted at the Elections Department earlier today picking up a nomination paper.
