SINGAPORE — The body of a Chinese female in her twenties was recovered after it was seen floating near the jetty at MacRitchie Reservoir this morning (July 29).

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), together with the police and PUB officers, were at the scene to retrieve the body this morning after it was notified at 7.20am about the discovery.

The body, which was located five metres from the shoreline, was pushed back to shore using a life buoy, after which it was manually retrieved, SCDF said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Apart from the police and SCDF officers, some others, believed to be family members, were also seen behind police lines at the scene this morning.

The SCDF said it was alerted yesterday afternoon that a body was seen in the reservoir. SCDF and PUB officers then conducted a search of the area, while Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) divers were activated to conducted point dive searches at the scene.

It called off the search at 7pm yesterday due to failing light, the SCDF spokesperson said. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
