Bukit Panjang murder: Woman charged with killing husband

SINGAPORE — A 26-year-old woman was today (Sept 1) charged with the murder of her husband in their home in Bukit Panjang.

SINGAPORE — A 26-year-old woman was today (Sept 1) charged with the murder of her husband in their home in Bukit Panjang.

Vivien Teoh Yi Wen, a human resource executive at the Ministry of Social and Family Development, allegedly killed 33-year-old Gordon Yeo Han Tong between 11.32pm on Sunday and 12.51am the next day.

Yeo sustained slash and stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at around 1.19am yesterday.

Teoh is represented by lawyer Yusfiyanto Yatiman.

A colleague of Teoh’s to whom Channel NewsAsia spoke said she was “the quiet type” and that her co-workers “can’t imagine her as a murderer”.

Yeo, who was self-employed, and Teoh have a 14-month-old daughter, who is believed to have been at the scene of the crime.

Teoh has been remanded for one week while investigations are being conducted, and will next appear in court next Tuesday.

If convicted of murder, she could face the death penalty. VANESSA PAIGE CHELVAN
