SINGAPORE — The President of Burkina Faso, Mr Blaise Compaore will be meeting with several Singapore companies from the infrastructure, hospitality and telecommunications sectors today, part of his trip here to attract Asia’s investment to the developing West African nation.

“Later today I will have meetings with Changi Airport International, Hyflux, Hotel Properties, and Surbana,” Mr Compaore told reporters this morning. TODAY understands that he will also be meeting with SingTel.

Burkina Faso is in the midst of gearing up its economic development and will open its doors for foreign and private sector investments, Mr Compaore said, adding that the nation can learn from Singapore’s experience in areas such as energy, infrastructure and urban sanitation.

Mr Compaore is currently in Singapore for a 4-day visit, and has already met with Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong yesterday, reaching an agreement on visa exemption between both countries. He has also met with business delegates from Malaysia, Indonesia and India.
