CDAC beefs up help for low-skilled workers

SINGAPORE — In an effort to better support low-skilled and low-income workers improve their chances of being employed, the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) has piloted a case management approach to those who need more help.

Launched in February, the pilot sees case officers assigned to these workers and job seekers to help them choose suitable training courses, and advise them on employment opportunities. Where needed, assistance will also be provided to family members.

Thirty workers and their families are already being assisted in this approach, the CDAC said in a press release yesterday. The council will be offering more programmes to help workers at its 13 centres, such as recruitment fairs, customised job preparation workshops, and sharing sessions on topics such as how to make use of the SkillsFuture Credit Scheme.

Yesterday also marked the official opening of CDAC@ Woodlands, which was relocated to Woodlands Avenue 6, near Admiralty MRT Station, from Woodlands Street 31. The new centre has facilities for student enrichment classes, and will offer CDAC’s programmes to help low-skilled and low-income workers.
