Singapore — Households using City Gas will pay more for town gas from next month till the end of July.

City Gas, which supplies town gas to almost 90 per cent of residents living in new Housing Development Board estates and private properties, said yesterday that gas prices for households will increase by 0.3 per cent from 21.01 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) to 21.08 cents per kWh in the three-month period.

This is due to a rise in fuel costs from the previous quarter. The move will increase the average monthly gas bill for a four-room flat by S$0.06, said City Gas.

The gas tariffs are based on guidelines issued by the Energy Market Authority — the gas industry regulator.

Gas prices were lowered by 0.8 per cent in the February-April quarter.
