SINGAPORE — Anti-narcotics officers arrested two Singaporean men and seized more than 1kg of “Ice” during a raid on Tuesday.
The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said it launched an operation on Tuesday targeting a syndicate that has been actively distributing the drug in Singapore. After it established that the syndicate leader and his runner were hiding out in a hotel in the city area, its officers moved in to arrest them at the hotel lobby at around 6.10pm.
The officers took the pair, aged 38 and 40, to the hotel room they had been hiding in, and recovered about 1.1kg of Ice. The men had intended to distribute the drugs in Singapore. The drug haul had a street value of about S$165,000 and could have sustained about 629 abusers for a week, said the CNB.
Both men are being investigated for drug trafficking. If convicted, they may face the death penalty.
