SINGAPORE – ComfortDelGro taxi’s flat-fare booking option crossed 100,000 in ten days following its launch on April 10, the transport company revealed on Thursday (April 20).
The flat-fare booking option reached the 100,000 milestone mark on Wednesday morning, ComfortDelGro said in a media release. And the 100,000th passenger who made the booking was Ms Neeta Ghosh, who received S$200 fare credit and 2,000 cab points.
Ms Ghosh, who books a cab every morning to send her children to school, said she preferred knowing the exact fare: “It is more convenient for me now to set aside the amount I need to pay for these taxi trips.”
The cabby who picked the family up was also given S$200 worth of vouchers. Mr Anthony Tay said that since the flat-fare option was introduced, his bookings have increased.
“I get at least three flat fare jobs a day,” Mr Tay said.
Mr Yang Ban Seng, CEO of ComfortDelGro taxi, said: “Crossing the 100,000-mark in just 10 days is very encouraging and tells us that both passengers and cabbies are adapting to this option well.”
“We expect the volume to grow as commuters and our cabbies get even more comfortable with this convenient and fuss free option,” he added.
The new flat-fare option, which must be made through the ComfortDelGro mobile application, takes into account the distance to be travelled and computes a fare based on existing surcharges. Once a commuter chooses this option, there will be no extra surcharges unless he or she changes the destination point or makes unplanned stops along the way. Travel delays due to traffic jams would not add to the fare, unlike the metered-fare option.
