SINGAPORE — The service counter at Kampong Java Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) will be closed following a fire. However, calls to the NPC and the co-located Tanglin Police Divisional Headquarters will still be answered.

The police said yesterday that a switch box in the generator room of Tanglin Police Divisional Headquarters at 21 Kampong Java Road had caught fire on Saturday evening. The fire was contained within the room and put out by the Singapore Civil Defence Force using one water jet within 15 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

“Preliminary investigations showed that the fire was accidental in nature. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing,” the police said in a statement.

The incident, however, disrupted the power supply to the headquarters and the NPC.

“Hence, pending the completion of rectification work, the service counter at Kampong Java NPC will be closed till further notice. However, calls made to Tanglin Police Divisional Headquarters and Kampong Java NPC will continue to be answered,” the police said.

Members of the public who require police services during the temporary closure may proceed to Rochor NPC on 11 Kampong Kapor Road or Orchard NPC on 51 Killiney Road.
