SINGAPORE — An ugly domestic row at a condominium near Jurong Lake Park ended with both husband and wife dead, and their helper injured yesterday morning.

The 37-year-old man and his 39-year-old wife were found badly injured in their apartment at Park View Mansion, along 9D Yuan Ching Road, after the police were called in at around 8am. Their 37-year-old domestic helper had earlier fled the third-floor unit with wounds on her arm, neck and back, said an eyewitness.

Three ambulances were used to take them to the National University Hospital (NUH), where the couple were pronounced dead. The unidentified helper was said to be in stable condition last night.

It later transpired that minutes after the police received a call for assistance at the condo, an email was sent to various newsrooms, in which a man identifying himself as Ken Ong detailed his unhappiness with his wife.

The lengthy email was titled “Jurong Murder” and had the headline “Final Note”. Police investigations are underway.

The dead couple have a six-year-old son, who was believed to be at school at the time of the incident. Their apartment is registered under the name of the dead woman’s mother.

When TODAY arrived at Park View Mansion late in the afternoon, bloodstains — believed to have been left by the fleeing domestic helper — could still be seen on the kerb in front of the condominium.

Mr Ramri Semass, a cleaner at the condo, said he was going about his morning duties when he heard a woman cry for help.

“Then, I saw the maid coming down the stairs. She was covered in blood and her face was white. She had wounds on her arm, her neck, her back,” said the 48-year-old.

Worried that her attacker might still be after the woman, Mr Ramri said he quickly took her to the guard post, alerted the security guard and called the police.

He added that the flight of stairs the domestic helper had used as she fled from the third floor was “covered with blood” before the stains were washed away.

Several neighbours said the couple kept a low profile.

A 49-year-old woman, who wanted to be known as Mrs Mac, said the violent quarrel came as a shock since the couple were very reserved and “usually kept to themselves”.

Mr Yeo, a 46-year-old delivery man who lives right across the deceased couple’s apartment, said he had never heard them quarrelling before.
