DPM Teo to lead S’pore delegation on visit to Brunei

Singapore — Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean is leading a group of Singapore political office-holders to Brunei, starting yesterday until Wednesday, for the third Young Leaders’ Programme (YLP), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said in a media release yesterday.

The YLP was established in 2013 to strengthen relations between both countries, particularly between the younger generation of leaders, the MFA said.

Mr Teo, who is also the Coordinating Minister for National Security, will be accompanied by Culture, Community and Youth Minister Grace Fu; Environment and Water Resources Minister Masagos Zulkifli; Senior Ministers of State Indranee Rajah (Finance and Law) and Sim Ann (Culture, Community and Youth, and Finance); and Minister of State (Communications and Information, and Health) Chee Hong Tat.

During the visit, Mr Teo and the delegation will have an audience with Brunei Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. They will also have an audience with and be hosted to lunch by Crown Prince Muhtadee Billah.

The MFA added that the delegation will be hosted to dinner by Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Brunei’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and meet their respective counterparts.

While in Brunei, Mr Teo will launch a photo exhibition with Princess Masna that showcases key moments in both countries’ bilateral relations, titled Brunei-Singapore: A Special Relationship.

He will also deliver a lecture titled Singapore-Brunei: Ties that Bind at Universiti Brunei Darussalam.
