SINGAPORE — Two Mongolian men were charged in court on Wednesday (Jan 17) with filching from diners in tourist areas on consecutive days earlier this month.

Dorj Enkhmunkh, 58, and Lkhagvasuren Enkhbaatar, 45, are accused of stealing a black bag belonging to Ms Vo Thi Hai Trang at RedDot BrewHouse in Boat Quay at about 10.30pm on Jan 6. The bag contained her iPhone 7+, a wallet with two credit cards and some Vietnamese currency, and a bunch of house keys.

During dinner time the following day, the duo allegedly struck again at the food court in Marina Bay Sands, stealing an iPhone 8 and more than S$100 cash from Mr Tong Yu.

The pair were arrested on Jan 9 and are due back in court on Jan 31, where at least nine more charges will be levelled against them.

If convicted, they could be jailed up to three years and/or fined, for each theft charge.
