SINGAPORE – The Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) has achieved the rank of top business school in Singapore for the 11th consecutive year based on the 2014 global ranking of full-time Master in Business Administration (MBA) programmes by news magazine site The Economist.

In addition, the programme maintained a fourth best placing among Asian institutions but dropped two spots from 64 to 66th internationally.

The programme typically admits 70 full-time students and 30 part-time students each year. About 15 per cent of the full-time cohort comes from Singapore, 10 per cent from Europe, 5 per cent from North America, and the rest from other parts of Asia.

Associate dean at Nanyang Business School, Dr Nilanjan Sen said that the global landscape has changed since 2004 when they first achieved the rank of Singapore’s top business school and that NTU have since managed to “nurture global leaders for a sustainable world”.

“Today, on top of a robust set of technical skills and knowledge, business leaders need to possess sensitivity and savvy about ethnic, national and corporate cultures, as well as integrity and authenticity in character.”

The Economist’s ranking is deemed as one of the most highly prestigious in the world, possessing a robust methodology in determining the results. It takes into account data collected over a three-year period, which provides a more holistic perspective.

This year alone, NTU recorded impressive showings in other international university ranking exercises. NTU climbed two places from last year to 39 in the world in the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings. In another, NTU jumped 15 places to 61 according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
