SINGAPORE — The Singapore School and Private Hire Bus Owners’ Association (SSPHBOA) is calling for members of the public to donate or lend them their old bus-related paraphernalia, as part of their exhibition detailing the history of Singapore’s school and private buses and its evolution through the years.

The exhibition, which will be held from May 15 to May 24 at Pek Kio Community Club, is the association’s contribution to SG50 celebrations and the first such exhibition to be held. It has also received funding from the SG50 Celebration Fund.

The association said today (Jan 14) it has already received some old bus passes, photos and tickets, but is working to get more from the public and local collectors. It aims for the showcase to recognise the efforts of pioneer bus drivers as well as the challenges they faced then.

They also hope it can teach the younger generation values of the past, and are working with the Ministry of Education to bring primary school students to the exhibition.

Besides contributing their items, the students and the public can also take part in competitions to share their ideas on what their dream school bus and private bus can be.
