SINGAPORE — A fire broke out at the basement of Jurong East shopping mall JEM yesterday evening (Jan 9), said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). There were no injuries reported, it added.
The incident was reported at about 8pm and had involved contents of a storeroom on basement three, said the SCDF. Five staff working at the mall had self-evacuated.
The fire was extinguished with a water jet and the cause of fire is still under investigation, the SCDF added.
The SCDF dispatched two fire engines, two red Rhinos, an ambulance and seven supporting equipment to the shopping mall.
This is the latest in a string of incidents at the mall. In April last year, a fire broke out near the mall’s H&M boutique. CHANNEL NEWSASIA
