SINGAPORE – A fire broke out in a bedroom of a Sengkang flat on Tuesday (Feb 14), causing thick black smoke to billow out of the flat.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were alerted to the blaze in the 13th floor unit at Block 248 Compassvale Road at about 4.10pm.

A man and an elderly woman, who had self-evacuated from the flat before firefighters arrived, were sent to Changi General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

The SCDF dispatched two fire engines, a red rhino, a fire bike, an ambulance and a support vehicle to the location. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
