SINGAPORE — A fire broke out at the Downtown Line (DTL) Little India station worksite along Race Course Road last night (March 26).
The fire occurred at 9.30pm and was put out by 10pm, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said in a Facebook post.
“There were no injuries. There is also no impact to DTL2 construction progress,” said the LTA, adding that it will assist the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) in its investigations.
The SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at the junction of Race Course Road and Buffalo Road at 9.39pm. Two fire engines, one Red Rhino, two fire bikes, one ambulance and one support vehicle were dispatched.
“Upon SCDF arrival, the fire was well alight and involved three large metal containers (approximately 20ft (6m) each) at the construction site,” said the SCDF. The fire was extinguished with three water jets.
The cause of fire is under investigation.
The Little India station is among 12 stations on the second stage of the Downtown Line, which is expected to be completed in 2016.
